The Harvard Undergraduate Health Policy Review is supported by the University-wide Interfaculty Initiative in Health Policy, as well as the Institute of Politics at Harvard University, and is advised by a Board consisting of distinguished individuals in medicine, economics, and government.

RIFAT ATUN, MBBS MBA FRCGP FFPH FRCP PHD

Dr. Atun is Professor of Global Health Systems at Harvard University. From 2008 to 2012, Professor Atun was as a member of the Executive Management Team of the Global Fund in Switzerland as the Director of the Strategy, Performance and Evaluation. Professor Atun’s research focuses on global health systems, global health financing, and innovation. He has worked with many governments, the UK DFID, the World Bank, World Health Organization, and other international agencies to design, implement and evaluate health system reforms. He is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Lancet Global Health and the Regional Editor for North America for Journal of Global Health.

MICHAEL F. CANNON, MA JM

Michael F. Cannon is the Cato Institute’s director of health policy studies. Cannon has been described as “an influential health-care wonk” (Washington Post), “ObamaCare’s single most relentless antagonist” (New Republic), and “ObamaCare’s fiercest critic” (The Week). Cannon is the co-editor of Replacing Obamacare: The Cato Institute on Health Care Reform and coauthor of Healthy Competition: What’s Holding Back Health Care and How to Free It. Previously, he served as a domestic policy analyst for the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee, where he advised the Senate leadership on health, education, labor, welfare, and the Second Amendment.

DAVID CUTLER, PHD

Dr. Cutler is the Otto Eckstein Professor of Applied Economics in the Department of Economics at Harvard University and a distinguished expert in health economics. In the public sphere, Professor Cutler served on the Council of Economic Advisors under Clinton and was a senior adviser for the Obama presidential campaign. For his extensive work in the academic and public arenas, he has been named one of the 30 people who could have a powerful impact on healthcare by Modern Healthcare Magazine.

MARY-JO DELVECCHIO GOOD, PHD

Dr. Good is a Professor of Social Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. As a medical anthropologist, she investigates the role of culture and political economy on medical practice, including clinical realities and dilemmas encountered by physicians. She has also served as editor-in-chief of Culture, Medicine and Psychiatry: An International Journal of Comparative Cross-Cultural Research and has led several international outreach efforts, including one to develop mental health services in Indonesia, and more broadly as a member of the steering committee for the International Forum for Social Science in Health.

PETER GRANT, JD

Peter Grant is a health care attorney and is a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. He has worked on various insurance regulation, reimbursement, and antitrust issues. Mr. Grant lectures regularly before numerous organizations, including the AMA, AHA, AMGA, MGMA, ACHE, the Harvard Business and Law Schools and the University of California’s Institute for Health Policy Studies.

WARNER SLACK, MD

Dr. Slack is a Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School and a leader in the field of clinical informatics. His extensive research career has focused on how to improve communication between different parties in healthcare. Dr. Slack has also served as editor-in-chief of the journal MD Computing and as the co-president of the Center for Clinical Computing in Boston.
